Effect of LTD4 on conjunctival vasopermeability and blood-aqueous barrier integrity.

چکیده
The effect of leukotriene D4 (LTD4) on the microvascular permeability of selected ocular tissues of the guinea pig was evaluated quantitatively by utilizing 125I-albumin and 51Cr-erythrocytes. Topically applied LTD4 (1 ng-10 micrograms) produced a dose-related increase in conjunctival microvascular permeability. However, topical administration of such doses of LTD4 did not promote albumin leakage into the aqueous humor or iris-ciliary body. Intravitreal injection of graded doses of LTD4 also failed to increase the albumin content of the aqueous humor and iris-ciliary body. Thus, although LTD4 increased conjunctival microvascular permeability, it does not appear to disrupt the blood-aqueous barrier of the guinea pig eye.

Effects of latanoprost and dipivefrin, alone or combined, on intraocular pressure and on blood-aqueous barrier permeability.
AIM To investigate the effect on intraocular pressure (IOP) and aqueous flare of topical applications of latanoprost and dipivefrin alone or combined. METHODS 22 patients with open angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension were included in a 4 week open label study. Median age was 68 years (range 50-79). They were allocated to either 2 weeks' treatment with once daily evening administration of la...
متن کاملInhibition of Advanced Glycation and Absence of Galectin-3 Prevent Blood-Retinal Barrier Dysfunction during Short-Term Diabetes
Breakdown of the inner blood-retinal barrier (iBRB) occurs early in diabetes and is central to the development of sight-threatening diabetic macular edema (DME) as retinopathy progresses. In the current study, we examined how advanced glycation end products (AGEs) forming early in diabetes could modulate vasopermeability factor expression in the diabetic retina and alter inter-endothelial cell ...
متن کاملCandesartan Attenuates Ischemic Brain Edema and Protects the Blood–Brain Barrier Integrity from Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury in Rats
Background: Angiotensin II (Ang II) has an important role on cerebral microcirculation however, its direct roles in terms of ischemic brain edema need to be clarified. This study evaluated the role of central Ang II by using candesartan, as an AT1 receptor blocker, in the brain edema formation and blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption caused by ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injuries in rat. Methods...
متن کاملPenetration of timolol eye drops into human aqueous humour.
Samples of aqueous humour were removed from 26 eyes at the start of cataract extraction. Two drops of timolol 0.5% had been instilled into the conjunctival sac 12-71 minutes before operation. Analysis by gas chromatography showed a mean timolol concentration of 55.46 ng/mg, with a range of 8 to 100 ng/mg.

The recent development of a technique for quantitative measurement of conjunctival microvascular permeability has permitted detailed pharmacological evaluation of H1- and H2-receptor involvement in histamine-induced increases in conjunctival microvascular permeability and the role of histamine in microvascular permeability changes associated with immediate hypersensitivity responses in the conj...
